Soares comments on going to the US Open final: 'I'm surprised'

Minas Gerais native Bruno Soares also commented on the court about his surprise at reaching the US Open final, just over a month after undergoing appendectomy surgery following a burst appendicitis on the flight to the Olympic Games. "I'm very surprised, to be honest," the Brazilian responded, taking the opportunity to thank the fans and the crowd for their presence, recalling that in 2020 he played the semifinal without fans. "It was much better to have them here," he declared. Bruno also commented on the timing of the surgery: "I couldn't compete in the Olympics. I went to Japan for my surgery (laughs), so I tried to recover, but I couldn't play during that time. I appreciate the support and patience of my team and Jamie, and then we came here," he revealed. So, faced with the problem, the tactic: "Stay patient, we came to do our best. There was nothing else to do but fight. We came here to fight and have fun," the Minas Gerais native stated.
